Presents or Presence?

Which do you treasure more, God’s presents or His presence?

God gives us presents all the time.  Each day we have clean air to breathe, water to drink, food to eat, shelter from the elements.  And of course on Christmas, new toys.

But the greatest gift God gives us is himself.  Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us.  Jesus came to earth to give us two gifts.  He came to rescue humankind from sin and death.  Jesus also came to reveal himself to us, so each person could have a personal, intimate relationship with God.  After he ransomed humankind, he sent his Holy Spirit to live inside each believer.  You cannot wrap that.

This Christmas, while we are grateful for presents, let us also be grateful for God’s indwelling presence.
